THREE MUSES - ORIENTAL

It's Bev's turn to host at the Three Muses this week and she has chosen ORIENTAL as her theme and here is my interpretation.  The ladies don't look very happy do they..... I wonder why?

Great choice of theme, Bev.

Thanks for looking.

  1. It's been a while since I stopped by . . . . what an inspiration of creativity you are, Ann! I DO love your interpretation of Maggie's work. Frankly, I like your pieces better than hers!!!! And the girls with their flying parasols are terrific.

Which brings me to THIS piece! So different from the others!!! And so wonderful in it's own right. These beautiful girls look like they've just stepped out of one of my favorite books, "My Life as a Geisha". Hugs, Terri xoxo

  4. Ann, I enlarged your image to see the background in a closer view. Clever layered effects !!
And why they look so sad ? Perhaps the bottle with sake was empty :)

  6. Hey,

I think they're a bit miffed because someone used up all the pearl dust powder, probably the geisha down the hall!
    I love your art T!
    Beautiful!!!

  8. Gorgeous background for your beautiful Oriental ladies, Ann. I always enjoy seeing you stray a bit from the surreal things you do so well, and find that you do everything else so well too!

  13. No they don't... but their bandaged feet could be causing them discomfort? See, this is what happens when you fall - foot obsession, lol!
Your background is really beautiful Ann! =)

  17. For me, it'd be the split toed socks and those cute little clog-like sandals LOL My feet just won't conform to that sort of thing--so of course, I wouldn't smile either!
But as I recall, actually, as a culture, the Japanese woman then (as now?) tried to hide her smile with a hand, a sleeve, a fan. That could be why.
Great work! LOVE the background you've chosen!
